There are over 400 people employed at Newcastle Hospitals who directly deliver research to participants involved in clinical trials and work closely with Newcastle University, Industry partners, and charities to identify and provide new cutting-edge treatments and techniques. There are studies and trials taking place in most clinical departments covering many disease areas and the progress our teams make, the new procedures and treatments they test, benefit the health and well-being of Newcastle patients and thousands of others around the region, country and internationally. We provide a streamlined service for sponsors wishing to conduct clinical trials within our organisation, offering consistent, efficient processes for the set-up and administration of clinical trials. Our vision is to achieve local excellence and global reach through compassionate and innovative healthcare, education, and research.

The long-established Newcastle Joint Research Office (NJRO), a partnership between Newcastle Hospitals and Newcastle University, facilitates the process of bench to bedside research, supporting researchers along the research pathway, from shaping an idea and processing funding applications, through to set-up and study close-down.
