Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Investigation of stone formers.
Should only be used if renal function is abnormal, otherwise urine oxalate is preferable.

Special requirements:
Send the sample to the laboratory immediately after collection.Sample must be separated and frozen within 2 hours of collection.Plasma oxalate should only be used if the renal function is abnormal. Otherwise, urine oxalate is the preferred sample type.
